Week 2 and the last day of the two weeks down at Somerset house. There were more than a smattering of glassers down there! Broadfield House’ s artist in residence Allister Malcolm was exhibiting his latest works. Allister told me about his latest works and was open to discuss the techniques used to help create his fantastic new pieces which he informed me and was delighted that his work is not only being exhibited at the Corning Museum of glass but selling on the first day of being displayed! Good work Allister! Here is a link to Allister Malcolm’ s site…

Also displaying their latest glass foray’ s was Charlie Macpherson. Charlie has a great selection of work and favours cane working, using transparent colours and sandblasting to blur the overall piece and attract the viewer to detail. Charlie told me that he had recently started working with Murrine and was pursuing and developing new style’ s of work. Here are a couple of images of Charlie’ s fantastic pieces..

Also pushing forward and definitely offering something a little different was Amy Cushing’s kiln formed hanging glass wonders. Made up of several pieces of cut kiln formed coloured transparent glass many of Amy’s compositions have in excess of one hundred separate pieces that give off a wonderful coloured shadow. Here are a couple of images of Amy’ s recent private and corporate interior glass installations..
