This week sees the start of Collect so before we head down there this weekend we’ re going back a few weeks into March to show some of the prolific makers and wonderful sights I came across in the Venetian lagoon. Pictured above is the work of the charasmatic Livio De Marchi utilising metal and glass as well as the material he is most famous for manipulating, wood!

Visiting the monumental Collect in May I chanced upon a few pieces of blown glass that stopped me. I managed to purchase this incredible book detailing the extensive back log of work by Japanese born and Venetian resident Ritsue Mishima – Stupendous.

Its the start of the week and spring is in the air. As you stroll into the Victoria and Albert Museum this piece fills the entrance. His work is pretty well known he makes huge public and private glass installations as well as working with a massive team of some of the best glass makers. This is the work of the legendary Dale Chihuly.

Here is a short video of Dale in his own words

Dale Chihuly talks to Google. An hour long presentation. Here Dale takes questions at the Google headquarters in San Fransisco including amazing footage from Venice and Murano with a peak of Pino Signoretto and Lino Tagliapietra. Awesome.
