Its the start of the week and spring is in the air. As you stroll into the Victoria and Albert Museum this piece fills the entrance. His work is pretty well known he makes huge public and private glass installations as well as working with a massive team of some of the best glass makers. This is the work of the legendary Dale Chihuly.

Here is a short video of Dale in his own words

Dale Chihuly talks to Google. An hour long presentation. Here Dale takes questions at the Google headquarters in San Fransisco including amazing footage from Venice and Murano with a peak of Pino Signoretto and Lino Tagliapietra. Awesome.

Busy day yesterday. Got to spend a couple of hours checking out the restoration of an Edwardian stained glass panel.  There will be more stained glass pics to follow over the next few weeks. In the meantime here is yesterdays V&A pic.. It’s a beauty and is very reminiscent an Alfredo Barbini piece that I love. More info on that next week.

V&A Pic of the day. I love this fantastic graal piece. Especially the trapped bubbles which look like slices of mercury.

VICTORIA & ALBERT 05

Its Friday so what better a way to start the weekend than an awesome murrine composition plate by glass designer and legendary architect Carlo Scarpa. This piece was concieved at the Venini Furnace, Murano around the 1950′s.

It would be foolish to understate how important this man was for the glass movement and so to say a big thank you, we will be doing a special later on in the year. In the mean time here is a glimse of some of those inspirational pieces. Take note of the dates!
